If You Are a Scholar, Why Be Ashamed of Doing Business?
Someone once said:
“I am a scholar, and I also teach at a university… I feel embarrassed doing business. What will people say?
They will say, ‘Look! He is selling these things!’”
I said:
“What will people say?”
People can also say:
“Look! This man is earning through Halal means.
He is supporting his family himself.
He is feeding his parents with his own earnings.
He does not hold out his hand before anyone.
And he is also helping those in need.”
“Then what is there to be ashamed of?”
My brother!
Our beloved Prophet ﷺ engaged in trade.
Among the noble Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, there were many great merchants.
When Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Awf (RA) arrived in Madinah, he did not have wealth or possessions, but he did not hold out his hand before anyone.
He said:
“Show me the way to the marketplace!”
That is self-respect!
The tragedy today is that some people feel ashamed of doing Halal business, but they do not feel ashamed of taking loans, asking others for credit, or looking toward other people’s pockets.
Just think!
One person is selling vegetables by the roadside,
One is selling milk,
One is selling clothes,
One is selling products online,
One is running a small shop…
Why should any of them feel ashamed?
“They are living on the earnings of their own hands!”
The real shame should be when a person has the ability to work but holds himself back simply because:
“What will people say?”
Brother!
People do not fill your household’s grocery basket.
People do not pay your children’s school fees.
People do not buy medicines for your parents.
People do not pay your debts.
Then why do you allow “people’s comments” to decide your life?
And listen to one more thing, just to shake yourself awake:
“A woman involved in immorality may not feel ashamed of displaying her body to receive temporary applause and earn money, while a respectable Muslim man may become worried about ‘what people will say’ when he sells Halal products to feed his children!”
“This is not modesty; this is an illness of thinking.”
Doing business does not diminish your dignity.
“Halal business does not make you small; it makes you stronger.”
Are you a scholar?
Then even better!
Combine your education, knowledge, character, and confidence with business.
Are you a professor?
Then do not teach your students self-reliance only through books. Show them through your own life that working hard and earning Halal income is honorable.
Are you a teacher?
Then teach people not only to trust in Allah, but also to take the proper means.
Earn with your own hands.
Give to your parents.
Be there for your brothers and sisters.
Help someone who is struggling.
Deliver groceries to the home of an orphan.
Help ease the burden of someone in debt.
And never stand before someone in need thinking:
“I wish I had money too!”
Instead, earn enough that one day you can look into the eyes of someone in need and say:
“Brother, don’t worry. I am here.”
Remember:
The hands that earn Halal income are never dirty.
These are hands of honor.
And if someone sees you doing business and says:
“Look! You are a scholar and yet you are selling things!”
Then smile and say:
“Yes! I am a scholar, but I do not sell knowledge; I share it.
And I do not ask anyone for my sustenance or money. I earn it through Halal means.”
My dear friends…!!!
Do not live your life trying to become important in the eyes of people.
Live your life striving to become honorable in the sight of Allah.
Say Bismillah and take the first step…
Let people say whatever they want.

#عالم_ہو_تو_کاروبار_سے_شرم_کیسی؟
ایک صاحب نے کہا:
”میں عالم ہوں، یونیورسٹی میں بھی پڑھاتا ہوں… کاروبار کرتے ہوئے شرم آتی ہے۔ لوگ کیا کہیں گے؟
کہ دیکھو! یہ چیزیں بیچ رہا ہے!“
میں نے کہا:
“لوگ کیا کہیں گے؟”
لوگ یہ بھی تو کہہ سکتے ہیں:
”دیکھو! یہ آدمی حلال کما رہا ہے۔
اپنے گھر والوں کا خرچ خود اٹھا رہا ہے۔
اپنے والدین کو اپنے پیسوں سے کھلا رہا ہے۔
کسی کے سامنے ہاتھ نہیں پھیلاتا۔
اور ضرورت مندوں کے کام بھی آتا ہے۔“
“پھر شرم کس بات کی؟”
میرے بھائی!
ہمارے نبی کریم ﷺ نے تجارت فرمائی۔
صحابۂ کرام رضوان اللہ علیہم اجمعین میں بڑے بڑے تاجر گزرے ہیں۔
حضرت عبدالرحمن بن عوفؓ مدینہ تشریف لائے تو ان کے پاس مال و دولت نہیں تھی، مگر انہوں نے کسی کے سامنے ہاتھ نہیں پھیلایا۔
کہا:
”مجھے بازار کا راستہ بتا دو!“
یہ ہے خودداری!
آج المیہ یہ ہے کہ بعض لوگ #حلال کاروبار کرنے میں شرم محسوس کرتے ہیں، لیکن قرض لینے، ادھار مانگنے اور دوسروں کی جیب کی طرف دیکھنے میں شرم محسوس نہیں کرتے۔
ذرا سوچیں!
ایک شخص سڑک کنارے سبزی بیچ رہا ہے،
ایک دودھ بیچ رہا ہے،
ایک کپڑے بیچ رہا ہے،
ایک آن لائن چیزیں فروخت کر رہا ہے،
ایک چھوٹی سی دکان چلا رہا ہے…
وہ سب شرمندہ کیوں ہوں؟
“وہ اپنے ہاتھ کی کمائی کھا رہے ہیں!”
افسوس تو اس وقت ہونا چاہیے جب انسان کام کرنے کی صلاحیت رکھتے ہوئے بھی صرف اس لیے ہاتھ روک لے کہ:
”لوگ کیا کہیں گے؟“
بھائی!
لوگ آپ کے گھر کا راشن نہیں بھرتے۔
لوگ آپ کے بچوں کی فیس نہیں دیتے۔
لوگ آپ کے والدین کی دوائیں نہیں خریدتے۔
لوگ آپ کے قرضے ادا نہیں کرتے۔
پھر آپ اپنی زندگی کا فیصلہ
“لوگوں کے تبصروں سے کیوں کرواتے ہیں؟”
اور ایک بات ذرا خود کو جھنجھوڑنے کے لیے سن لیجیے:
“ایک فحاشہ اپنے جسم کی نمائش کرکے چند لمحوں کی داد اور پیسہ کمانے میں شرم محسوس نہیں کرتی،
وہیں ایک باوقار مسلمان مرد اگر حلال چیز بیچ کر اپنے بچوں کا پیٹ پالنے لگے تو اسے
”لوگ کیا کہیں گے“
کی فکر لاحق ہوجاتی ہے!
“یہ شرم نہیں، یہ سوچ کی بیماری ہے۔”
کاروبار کرنا آپ کی شان کم نہیں کرتا۔
“حلال کاروبار آپ کو چھوٹا نہیں کرتا،
آپ کو مضبوط کرتا ہے۔”
آپ عالم ہیں؟
تو
اور بھی خوب!
اپنی تعلیم، علم، اخلاق اور اعتماد کو کاروبار کے ساتھ جوڑیں۔
آپ پروفیسر ہیں؟
تو اپنے طلبہ کو صرف کتابوں سے خودداری نہ پڑھائیں، اپنی زندگی سے بھی دکھائیں کہ محنت کرکے حلال کمانا عزت ہے۔
آپ مدرس ہیں؟
تو لوگوں کو توکل کے ساتھ اسباب اختیار کرنا بھی سکھائیں۔
اپنے ہاتھ سے کمائیے۔
اپنے والدین کو دیجیے۔
اپنے بہن بھائیوں کے کام آئیے۔
کسی غریب کی مشکل میں مدد کیجیے۔
کسی یتیم کے گھر راشن پہنچائیے۔
کسی مقروض کا بوجھ ہلکا کیجیے۔
اور کبھی کسی مجبور کے سامنے یہ نہ سوچیں:
”کاش میرے پاس بھی پیسے ہوتے!“
بلکہ اتنا کمائیے کہ کبھی کسی ضرورت مند کی آنکھ میں دیکھ کر کہہ سکیں:
”بھائی! فکر نہ کرو، میں ہوں نا!“
یاد رکھیے:
حلال روزی کمانے والے ہاتھ گندے نہیں ہوتے،
یہ ہاتھ عزت والے ہوتے ہیں۔
اور اگر کوئی آپ کو کاروبار کرتے دیکھ کر کہے:
”دیکھو! عالم ہو کر چیزیں بیچ رہے ہو!“
تو مسکرا کر کہیے:
”ہاں! میں عالم ہوں لیکن علم بیچتا نہیں، بانٹتا ہوں۔
اور رزق/ پیسہ کسی سے مانگتا نہیں، بلکہ حلال طریقے سے اپنا کماتا ہوں۔“
پیارو۔۔۔۔!!!
لوگوں کی نظروں میں بڑا بننے کے لیے مت جیو۔
اللہ کے ہاں باعزت بننے کے لیے جیو۔
بسم اللہ کر کے قدم بڑھائیں۔۔۔ لوگ جو کہتے ہیں کہنے دیں۔۔۔۔
